Life begins at…

With agreement reached on a mega-deal and the impending new arrival to his family, Joey Issa’s birthday might almost seem a secondary occasion.

But that certainly wasn’t the perception last Friday night at the 39th birthday shindig thrown for the Cool Group boss at the Bovell family home in Jacks Hill, Kingston.

Life begins at…

On the gently sloping land with its superb vistas of the city lights, friends, family and well wishers of all ages turned out to personally salute the entrepreneur on his special occasion, to enjoy some on-the-spot pan chicken, tasty jerk sausages, mini pizzas and the usual libations (and some very unusual ones).

Earlier in the evening, Observer Managing Director Mark Pritchett presented the birthday boy and Observer Business nominee with a special framed commemorative Business Observer front page replicating the announcement of the Cool Group/Neal & Massy takeover of the Shell retail operations, with the captioned question, “I wonder what I’ll do at 40?”

If past performance is any indication, it should be a very busy 40th year – and an even bigger celebration next year.
