SuperClubs dominates culinary competition

For the tenth straight year the SuperClubs Culinary team managed by Senior Vice President Joe Issa and co-ordinated by Sans Souci Lido’s Pierre Battaglia and Grand Lido’s Anil Sud emerged as the winning team in the JCDC Professional Culinary Arts Competition held in Montego Bay two weekends ago.

The SuperClubs team won over 50% of the medals awarded in the culinary section of the competition along with several of the major awards. In the beverage section they were even more dominant, winning 100% of the gold medals presented.

“As SuperClubs celebrates its twentieth anniversary it’s nice to reiterate our dominance in the food and beverage arena as excellence in cuisine is one of the Hallmarks on which the Super-Inclusive vacations offered by our properties are built! Our culinary and bar staff are the best in the industry and the once again performance at the standard that has come to be expected from SuperClubs. I lift my hat to them!” said an ecstatic Joe Issa.

In the team category SuperClubs did well with Sans Souci Lido copping the award for Best Fresh Water Fish and Best Pork Dishes. In the chef open category, the SuperClubs team totally outclassed their competition with Grand Lido dominating by winning the awards for Best Appetizer, Best Beef Dishes and Best Dessert. Hedonism II chef accounted for the awards for Best Chicken Dish and Best Pork Dish. Boscobel Beach copped the award for Best Fresh Water Fish Dish to confirm SuperClubs all-round strength.

In the newly introduced Hot Food section SuperClubs were not to be outdone winning three special awards. Grand Lido received the award for Best Beef Dish and a special Environmental award. New kids on the block, Breezes Montego Bay, chipped in with the prize for best pork dish.

In the beverage category, Grand Lido received the award for Best Alcoholic Rum Based Drink and Best Non Alcoholic Drink. Sans Souci Lido got the award for Best use of Robert’s mixes. Royan Lawrence of Grand Lido was voted bartender of the show by the judges.

In addition to the coveted bartender of the show award, SuperClubs also took the major awards for Best Show Center Piece and for Pastry Chef of the Show, which was won by Jing Shi of Grand Lido for the second consecutive year. Overall, SuperClubs won more than eighty awards at the two-day event, far outstripping their closest rivals. Commenting on SuperClubs achievements three-time winner of the Chef of the Show award Piere Battaglia said, “Just as we have done for the past ten years, we came, we competed and we conquered!”
