Ocho Rios, St. Ann – The Kiwanis Club of St. Mary recently charted its sixth Key Club, crossing the border and going into St. Catherine to do the launching at Guy’s Hill Secondary School.

uest speaker, Joe Issa, general manager of Couples Hotel and a member of the St. Mary Kiwanis Club, in his address described Jamaica as a world leader in a number of areas, and said that the innovations was had in this country had caught on worldwide.
He made specific reference to reggae and dance hall music, which he said, was the first new form of popular music to gain recognition worldwide in this century. That, he said, did not originate in North America or Britain.
Mr. Issa encouraged the students to make the best of their school, as teachers make serious sacrifices to provide them with an education.
The charter was handed over to the president of the club, Michael Wilson. The function was chaired by Kiwanis advisor, Robert Montaque.
In attendance were members of staff of the school, Key clubbites and teachers from St. Mary High, Tacky Secondary and Mary Mount High Schools, where Key Clubs have been established.
Members of the Guy’s Hill community and Kiwanian Don Creary, Kristoff Nordin, Lester Barrett, Navara Dennis, Gregory Sinclair and Richard Creary attended the function.
