While small, medium and large enterprises settle for annual Christmas parties as the highest form of staff/management interaction, the John Issa-run SuperClubs has drawn higher gear in worker/management relationships in Jamaica. On Thursday, August 29, the novel draw for land exclusively for members of staff in the SuperClubs People Development Programme took place at Breezes, Runaway Bay. This is living testimony to a unique social contract which embarrasses all the on-going talk about national consensus on a social contract pact.
The land with a market of over $400,000 is located in the vicinity of Brown’s Town, overlooking Runaway Bay in St. Ann. After the three-phased draw a picture of the winning housing lot was unveiled by Mr. Joe Issa, SuperClubs senior vice president. Excitement bubbles were blown all over Breezes, Runaway Bay property when staff member Olivene Henry from the personnel department was announced the lucky winner of the 20 employees who were eligible. Following the presentation, SuperClubs staff from the six properties invaded James Bond Beach, Oracabessa, St. Mary for the super splash party. Joe Issa and his team are doing more than “talk-the-talk” as they “walk-the-walk” at SuperClubs; the survey of staff morale expected later this year should mirror an unprecedented high level in the history of staff/management relationships in Jamaica. Their grand announcement of a commitment of $20 million per year over the next 20 years as well as 10 scholarships to pursue Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts studies in the staff development programme is a solid statement.
It was obvious to the participants that they were part of something special as the day progressed with more than enough food and drink, helicopter ride, beach games and guest performer Bobby Smith with his stand-up comedy.
Well done Grand Lido, Sans Souci Lido, Boscobel Beach, Hedonism II, Breezes Runaway Bay, and Breezes Montego Bay. As Joe Issa puts it … “Get ready Breezes Bahamas”.
