The newest hotel on the coast, the 225 room Hedonism III Resort, Runaway Bay had a dry run of sorts for big functions when it hosted top business people, tourism interests and member of the press to a grand party two Saturday nights ago.
The hotel, in Runaway Bay St Ann, has now opened, Tuesday, September 1. The reception, Saturday night August 21, when the hotel rolled out the welcome mat was an “investors night” of the major financiers Dehring Bunting and Golding (DB&G) Limited. CEO of (DB&G), Peter Bunting said he was pleased with the project at Hedonism III and the company would continue to expand into other areas.
According to Mr. Bunting, the project was on target.
Already, most of the luxurious facilities have been completed, for the opening of the resort to visitors who have made their bookings. The hotel, located close to another SuperClubs property, Breezes Golf and Beach Resort is an adults only singles and couples hotel. The brand name Hedonism in the Super Clubs chain suggests “a truly active (and slightly wicked) all-inclusive. The hotel is sited on 15 acres of beachfront property with the design putting a premium on open spaces and luxury facilities. It has nine blocks of rooms with three floors each.
There are four restaurants, two lighted tennis courts, courts for other games including basketball and volleyball, a fitness centre, a circus workshop, three large pools including a swim up bar and an “au natural” pool; expansive beach areas including a clothing-optional or nude beach and two grills, one on the nude beach.
Senior vice president of SuperClubs, Joe Issa said that booking projections for the resort were looking good. He said that over 300 person will be employed to the resort. However, for the start up, the hotel has recruited and trained some 140 employees to begin operation on September 1, 1999.
As part of the investor’s night there was an entertainment package.
Among those attending were: Iva Walters, JTB Regional Director; Eva Walters, wife of the Custos of St Ann; Jack Wilmot, UDC deputy Chairman; Franklin McKnight, publisher of the North Coast Times.
