One of the three Issa children and the only son for his parents, John and Aida, Mr. Issa held the job of executive vice president at SuperClubs. He packed his things last weekend and left the Ocho Rios office where he was based after he was fired from the hotel chain that runs several hotels under the Grand Lido, Starfish and Breezes brands in Jamaica as well as in the Caribbean and South America.
Mr. Issa is well known on the Coast where he has a high community profile and is often seen out among ordinary people, in the local shops and restaurants. He served for two years as president of the St. Ann Chamber of Commerce while being a vice president of SuperClubs.
His actual work in the hotel chain started nearly ten years ago when he worked as resident manager at Grand Lido Negril, learning on the job before taking up other positions in hotels and the executive offices of the resort chain.
Mr. Issa last Wednesday was engaged to Asha Manglani a businesswoman in her own right. Family members rebuffed the argument that the engagement had anything to with the separation between the 37- year- old Mr. Issa and the chain.
Mr. Issa has invested heavily in his own companies outside of tourism directly under the “Cool” brand. The companies are managed and set up with separate offices outside of the SuperClubs business.
The SuperClubs chain did not issue any statement up to press time.
