Norma Creary, the matriarch of the Creary family from Port Maria, St Mary, celebrated her 70th in fine style at a lavish party thrown for her by her sons, Mike, Don and Richard at her home in Port Maria on January 29.
It was, simply put, an affair to remember, with the still sprightly Norma being the belle of the ball, mingling with friends and guests before dancing up a storm on the dance floor with special friend Dr Roy Saunders.
The evening was filled with toasts an tribute to Mrs Crery from friends, Custos “Bobby” Pottinger, Cecilia Chung and Roy Saunders, while Don Creary, ever the spokesman, paid a moving tribute to his lovely mom o behalf of the boys. Master of ceremonies was the erudite and witty “Uncle” Tony Ray.
The food was mouth-wateringly delicious with the shrimp in batter a culinary treat, as was the jerked chicken, curried and conch soup made by the local man-about-town, “Muffy”.
Champagne, premium wines and liquor flowed like a gushing stream all night while guest danced until the wee hours of Sunday morning to the sounds of Magic Fingers Disco at what may be described as St. Mary’s party of the year.
Guests included Derrick Smith, Councillor Bobby Montague, Michael Belnavis, Joey Issa, Wade Marsh, Cecil Lopez, Yvonne Ray, Seragh and Effie Lakasingh, Steven and Val Chung, Bobby Chung, Marcia McDonnough, Superintendent Warren Clarke, Michael Winston, Dr David Smith, Roseanne Chung, Chas and Lucy Chin-Loy, Garwin Davis, Ayesha Singh, Heather Hudson and Ian Spencer.
