It was a humongous cocktail party that the Commissioner of Police Francis Forbes and the officers of the Jamaica Constabulary Force hosted at the Police Officers’ Club, a week ago Friday. People, people everywhere. It was well over a thousand guests who came out to their annual cocktail party. Officers in their dress uniforms stood out significantly. The Governor-General and Prime Minister mingled with the officers and guests. The entrance was beautifully decorated with hundreds of lights. Drinks were in abundance and waiters could be seen moving through the throng with platters of hors d’oeuvres.
Over at Creative Projects, guests had thinned out by the time we arrived there. But the few including managing director Corina Meeks was dancing up a storm, while others partook of the always delicious Jamaican food that is always at that party. A handful of guests including those guys from Grace Kennedy – Tyrone Byfield et al were literally the last ones to leave… on their way to Pricilla’s to continue the partying.
Last Thursday night Michael and Thalia Lyn’s house in Stony Hill was packed with people. Thalia and her business partner, David McRae, in association with Wray and Nephew were celebrating Georges Duboeuf 1999 Beaujolais Nouveau wines. Red and white Beaujolais flowed endlessly, and the tasty gourmet delights had guest after guest going for seconds and thirds.
Conversation was rife among guests such as Howard Mitchell, Howard Hamilton, Jennifer Messado (deadly in red), Dhiru and Laura Tanna, Micky Pine McLarty and husband, Anthony and Jeanie Bell, Gloria Palomino, Peter and Bev Rousseau, Sylvia and Janice Baghaloo, and a host of personalities.

But most noteworthy, she said, was Blackwell walking around barefoot at the James Bond Beach on December 4.
