SuperClubs sweeps Ja culinary competition again For the eleventh straight year, the SuperClubs culinary team, led by executive chef at SuperClubs Grand Lido, Thomas Swan has won the most prizes in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) professional culinary arts competition held at the Renaissance Jamaica Grande hotel in Ocho Rios recently, a release from the resort chain has said.

According to the release, the team won close to 90 per cent of the medals awarded at the competition.

In the beverage section they were most dominant winning 100 per cent of the major awards presented, including a record haul of eight gold medals. Claudia Daley of SuperClubs Trelawny Beach became the first female to win the coveted Bartender of The Show award.

In the chef open category, the team copped 70 per cent of the awards given in one of their most compelling performances to date. Swan was named Chef of the Show in the Hot Foods Category and Clifton Wright of SuperClubs Grand Lido was judged Pastry Chef of the Show.

An ecstatic Joe Issa, SuperClubs senior vice president and manager of the team, praised the team.

He said that excellence in cuisine was one of the hallmarks on which the super-inclusive vacations offered by SuperClubs were built. “Our culinary and bar staff are the best and the Trelawny Beach and Breezes Montego Bay teams underscore that fact.”

In the team category SuperClubs also came out on top with Grand Lido winning the best establishment award.
